good weekend
I'm tired this a.m., but despite that, I wanted to pause and reflect on the weekend past. It was a weekend that was full of pleasant and productive moments. There was more good times than bad, and I consider that a successful weekend. I already recorded my thoughts on Friday's events, so Saturday is next on my list.
Saturday seemed to start out poorly. I woke up around 8 a.m., and started coughing and sneezing as soon as I woke up. My allergies had kicked in for some reason, and I could feel myself becoming short of breath. I immediately took a Benadryl, and went back to bed. I get so tired when I take Benadryl that I try to avoid that course of action, but I didn't have anywhere pressing to go, so I opted to nip the allergies in the bud.
I dozed off and on for the better part of the morning, and then got up when my husband went to work at his second job at the mall. I showered, dressed and took my youngest with me on some errands. My 13 year old opted to hang out at home and play his video game. Oh, the age when they're too cool to hang out with mom! ;) My daughter spent the night with a cousin, so it was just Jo-Jo and I, out and about. I took Jo-Jo out for lunch and then to the park.
Just as we were leaving the park, my husband called and said that he had left his wallet at home and wondered if I had time to bring it to him at the mall. I had finished my errands, so we headed out to the mall. When we got there, Rob took his lunch break and we ate at the food court together. He suggested Jo-Jo and I do a little shopping and go to a movie close by, and then meet him back at the mall so we could drive home at the same time.
That sounded like a decent plan, so Jo-Jo and I did some shopping and then went to see "Home on the Range." We both enjoyed it. By the time the movie was over, it was almost time for Rob to get off work.
Once we got home, we picked Jess up from her cousin's house, cooked, and we all five headed out to the drive in. We saw "I Robot" and part of "Anchorman." We would have stayed for the whole movie, but Jo-Jo started getting a stomach ache. We all enjoyed "I-Robot," but didn't have time to form an opinion about "Anchorman."
Sunday I cleaned house and did laundry all day. My mother-in-law came over after she got out of church, and she cooked Sunday dinner for us. Rob, who doesn't sleep much normally, was tired and caught up on his rest. He does most of the cooking through the week, as he gets off work 3 hours before me, so I think he really enjoyed a break from it. I chatted between chores with my mother-in-law. She is a real sweetie.
That was the extent of my weekend. For me, it was the perfect mixture of fun and function. If I don't get any work done on the weekend, I feel like I'm behind at the start of the week. But if all I do is work, I feel like the weekend was somewhat of a waste, as I didn't take time to stop and smell the roses. That's what I liked so much about this past weekend. I played, worked and rested.
That's all so far today. More later.
